Join us for the AfroSolo Arts Festival!

Vertical with title We can hardly wait for the start of our annual AfroSolo Arts Festival.  The AfroSolo team has been working hard to put on a great community event for August!  Most of the event are open and free to the community, so be sure to bring your friends and family.  Here’s the line up:

ACT 1 

Tribute to Paul Robeson

  • August 2nd at 1-3PM at Yerba Buena Gardens – Mission St. (between 3rd and 4th St.), San Francisco, CA 94103
  • Tribute to Paul Robeson by Anthony Brown and pianist Dr. Carl Blake

ACT 2 

Community Health Fair 10-1PM


ACT 3

Project Empowerment – Succeeding Against the Odds

  • Workshops to serve and support young Black men and boys from entering the juvenile system

          September 27th: Scene 1 – The Audacity to Succeed – Young Black Men and Boys Soaring into the Future

  • Workshops and panels for job, internship, and apprentice opportunities
  • Inspirational and upbeat day to plan for a great future

September 27th: Scene 2 – Great Performances by Young Black Men and Boys

  • Theater, music, and dance

          Scene 3 – Lighting up the Future: Letters From Black Men to Young Black Men and Boys

  • An anthology of letters written from Black men to younger Black men and boys with the goal to uplift, inspire and motivate  them.
  • We plan to publish the book in the winter of 2014

          


ACT 4

Black Voices Series

  • Performances by 4 extraordinary performers that give voice to the black experience

ACT 5

Workshops for Developing Your Arts Organization

  • Solo performance workshop
  • Learn how to market yourself and expand your performing arts career
